Today, we performed sample pneumatic scribing and dot peen marking for an automotive manufacturer in Anhui Province, China. The customer wants to mark the products after welding and asked us to provide a sample to help them decide between a scribing machine and a pneumatic dot peen marking machine. This customer is planning a large-scale purchase of marking machines. However, the final decisions regarding equipment specifications and deployment strategies are still under review by their engineering and process departments. The demonstration was therefore a key step in their evaluation process.

Scribing systems are commonly used on the frames and key components of a limited number of executive and luxury automobile makes and models to provide aesthetically pleasing, high-grade marking in the finest detail and to achieve a permanent marking that is difficult to replicate with conventional pneumatic dot peen marking or laser marking. The customer has a need for this system but is currently considering which price points and models of vehicles would be more suitable for marking with a scribing system, given the large number of vehicles to be marked.
