A customer in Eastern Europe purchased an integrated UV marking machine for a production line, complete with an automatic code scanning inspection module. The machine is used to automatically mark lithium battery packs with QR codes and to automatically inspect and communicate data. Having previously used MEXXEN handheld scanners and been satisfied with their efficiency and accuracy, the customer asked us to integrate a specific compact scanner model from the brand. This video shows a black battery tray. The customer provided battery trays in four colors: black, white, blue and orange. Although the raw material is the same V0-grade flame-retardant ABS mixed with PC plastic, the absorption efficiency of the laser differs slightly after the color powder is mixed in. Therefore, we used two different sets of laser parameters for the best marking quality and achieved 100% correct detection in the test session.

The conveyor in this video is only a demonstration. The machine will be integrated into the customer’s fully automated production line and will use the customer’s MES and PLC for process and motion control. Firstly, the lithium battery tray passes through the customer’s conveyor and reaches the marking position and stops through the limit device, after the marking is completed, the marking machine will inform the PLC to proceed to the next step of the process; then the workpiece moves to the inspection position and stops through another set of limit device, when the photoelectric sensor confirms the presence of the product, it will be scanned and inspected through the code scanning machine, if the scanning is successful, it will return the result of the code scanning to the customer’s MES system, and if the scanning is unsuccessful, it will inform the customer’s MES system to control the process and movement of the machine. If the scanning is successful, it will return the scanning result to the customer’s MES system, and at the same time, inform the PLC to proceed to the next step and light up the green light; if the scanning fails, it will inform the customer’s PLC to carry out the sorting and light up the red light, and then a set of cylinder ejector will eject the failed products to the heavy industry area.
