Today we delivered a customized automatic nameplate MOPA fiber laser marking machine to help Europe’s natural gas supply

Since the bombing of the Nord Stream 2 pipeline and the impact of the Russian-Ukrainian war, Europe’s natural gas supply has been in short supply in recent years, and winter heating has become a major problem for European residents. Recently, Sichuan Energy Development Group Co., Ltd., a state-owned enterprise in China, contacted us. One of its customers in Germany needed a batch of LNG filling equipment to fill and distribute LNG imported from the United States to the hands of citizens.

This batch of equipment was developed and produced by them, but they currently need to use a plastic nameplate mainly used for instruments and valves of filling equipment. It was previously processed by inkjet printing, but the printed barcode will gradually become blurred due to equipment cleaning and other reasons. It is difficult to use a barcode scanner to scan quickly, and the ink consumption cost used in large-scale identification is high. For this reason, they hope to use a new type of laser plastic label, hoping to improve the marking effect while reducing the cost of subsequent consumables. And meet the stringent green and environmental protection requirements of its German customers.

We installed an automatic nameplate fixture with integrated PLC control on the basis of the MOPA fiber laser marking machine. The use of MOPA fiber lasers can provide better beam quality than conventional entry-level fiber lasers. Because the nameplates that need to be marked by this machine are specially optimized for lasers, its white marking area can be effectively etched with only extremely low energy density. We tested and demonstrated the marking effects of using RAYCUS 30W fiber laser and JPT M7 30W MOPA fiber laser, and the customer finally chose JPT M7.
The nameplate fixture of this machine uses a set of vertical motor modules with photoelectric sensors to achieve automatic loading and positioning. After the nameplate is manually placed in the fixture, the module can lift the nameplate to the exact position according to the feedback of the photoelectric sensor, thereby ensuring that each nameplate can be marked with a consistent effect. At the same time, the two sides can be quickly adjusted to adapt to nameplates of any shape and size through manually adjustable side walls and limiters. In terms of automatic unloading, we use a set of cylinder suction cups driven by motors with X-axis travel. After receiving the instruction that a single nameplate is marked, it can move to the position and suck up the nameplate, and then move horizontally to the unloading area to release the suction cup. These actions are repeated continuously, so that highly automated marking can be completed with one click after the nameplate is placed.

Compared with conventional fiber laser marking machines with manual nameplate fixtures, this solution has less cost increase, but greatly improves efficiency. Therefore, it has been popular in the domestic market for many years and supplied to many power and water companies. Previously, our exports of this type of automated nameplate marking equipment were mostly traditional dot matrix marking machines, which were widely used in the machinery industry. However, with the continuous development and price reduction of fiber lasers worldwide, the use of lasers instead of dot matrix marking for such nameplates and labels will become more and more popular.
