A brief demonstration of our recently delivered batch of automatic lift dot peen marking machines
This order came from a manufacturer of machine parts, whose main purpose is to mark the serial numbers of products that pass the manual visual inspection with automatic skip numbers. Their main production of gears and other hardware is equipped with blow molded pallets, the product production process of qualified products is placed in the form of pallets, needs to be marked on the whole pallet for packaging.
A few months ago, we discussed with the customer and provided them with this type of pneumatic marking machine, using pneumatic cylinders to realize the automatic lifting marking head, manually slide the workpiece pallets from the assembly line to the limits and step on the foot pedal to complete the whole batch of serial number generation and marking the product, the efficiency of only one operator to meet the needs of the entire production line.
The customer contacted us again after half a year of use, in addition to purchasing some consumables, again ordered 8 sets of marking machine, delivered in two batches, to complete the transformation of 10 main product lines in one year, and plans to complete the replacement of pneumatic marking machine for all current production lines in 3 years.

The customer previously used standard pneumatic dot peen marking machines to complete the marking. Due to the large number of production specifications, the use of customized fixtures for marking is not conducive to flexible production, as the fixtures are more time-consuming and laborious to change. Since the cost of flexible fixtures that can be used for multiple specifications is high, we previously proposed group fixtures or accompanying fixtures, which the customer was pleased with, but the cost was well beyond their budget.
After several designs, we decided to use a standard tabletop machine combined with a cylinder lift module to reduce the labor involved in the marking process. Because the base of the blow-molded pallet was not fully clamped and could not be held in place by suction cups, there was a slight deformation of the lettering during the marking process due to vibration, but the customer was pleased with the quality and efficiency of the marking process.

Many years ago, during the design and development of an automated marking machine for a foreign valve manufacturer, we first experimented with the use of pneumatic cylinders and stops to control X or Y axis motion. Compared to similar electric cylinder modules, the pneumatic motion solution has some advantages in terms of instantaneous acceleration, force, and stopping at a lower cost; the disadvantages are the need for an additional air source and the rigid stops are subject to minor movement and damage and require periodic calibration and replacement of the stops.
Over the years, with more and more customers in various industries, compared with the high cost of high-end automation solutions, we prefer to use a variety of mature functional modules to meet the customer’s efficiency, quality, and cost balance point of the solution, and have become the favorite of many customers.

Application Context for A brief demonstration of our recently delivered batch of automatic lift dot peen marking machines
Permanent metal marking applications need the right balance between marking depth, noise, cycle time and part geometry. Dot peen, scribe and custom rotary marking systems can solve different traceability requirements depending on the workpiece.

How to Choose a Similar Marking Setup
Before selecting a machine, prepare a short sample brief with the following information. This helps CNMarking recommend the right laser, dot peen, scribe or automation configuration instead of only matching a picture.
- Part material, hardness and marking depth
- Flat, curved, long or irregular workpiece shape
- Manual station, benchtop fixture or automated production line
- Code type such as VIN, serial number, Data Matrix or logo

FAQ
Can CNMarking test my own samples before I choose a machine?
Yes. For most marking, cleaning and welding projects, sample testing is the fastest way to confirm contrast, depth, speed and fixture requirements before final configuration.
What information should I send for a quotation?
Please send the material, part size, marking or cleaning area, required result, production volume and any automation or traceability requirements. Photos or short videos of the current process are also helpful.
